Parliament's role in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals

This handbook, prepared by the World Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption, the United Nations Development Program and the Islamic Development Bank, is designed to be an easy-to-use reference that enables parliamentarians and parliamentary staff to play an effective role in implementing the sustainable development goals. It also provides an introduction to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and presents best practices and tools from around the world that can be adapted as appropriate and according to the national context.

The Sustainable Development Goals provide an opportunity for societies to engage in a comprehensive dialogue about the future of all of us on this planet, and parliamentarians here can play an active role in promoting this dialogue. In turn, we call on parliamentarians around the world to use this guide as a practical tool to enhance participation in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
